Five workers’ bodies were found in a collapsed building at Abia

In Obingwu village, Ukwa West LGA of Abia State, rescuers have removed the bodies of five workers who died at a building site.

When the three-story structure that was still under construction fell on top of the victims, they became trapped.

Officially, the cause of the building collapse remains unknown, although community sources have attributed the tragedy to the probable usage of inferior materials.

According to a second source, the majority of the deceased victims were workers for a contractor who were citizens of a West African nation.

Reporters weren’t able to meet the Abia State Ministry of Lands and Housing for a comment on this issue.

On this subject, the Abia State Police Command has not yet spoken.
