Two officers from the Lagos State Taskforce are being detained and face disciplinary measures after a fatal incident during an unauthorized operation on Wednesday.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, shared this information on X.com on Saturday in response to viral videos showing motorcycle riders repeatedly running over a body in Lagos.
Hundeyin clarified that the officers were involved in an unauthorized duty and had taken civilians along.
The situation worsened when the group was attacked by motorcycle riders, resulting in the death of one civilian. Hundeyin noted that the officers, on June 19, 2024, were conducting the illegal operation and had brought civilians to increase their numbers.
