When love takes its first step down the aisle, it does so in designer shoes and coutured fabrics. This was the case for the award-winning Nigerian music sensation, Davido and his partner, Chioma Rowland.
During their traditional wedding, cultural heritage and elegance merged seamlessly, as they wove their love story into the fabric of tradition. In this article, I’ll be delving into the fashionable details surrounding their unforgettable wedding day which was held at The Waterside in Lekki.
The buildup to Davido and Chioma’s wedding was feverish. Social media was broken by the pre wedding pictures of the duo, released just days shy of the main event. Below is the fashionable timeline countdown for their wedding day:
The Pre-Wedding Attire
There were three outfit changes for the pre-wedding photoshoot that exuded regalness, grandeur and sophistication.
For the first outfit, Davido stunned in a three-piece multicolored agbada (a flowy traditional garment usually worn by Yoruba men). The rich Aso-oke fabric was adorned with intricate embroidery. On Chioma’s part, she complemented her beau’s outfit with a black gown that featured fur designs and a black gele (head wrap).
The second look had the couple looking dapper in a classic black agbada for Davido and a sparkly lace gown with delicate feather detailing for Chioma.
For the third look, Davido was bedecked in a golden agbada (the gold color symbolizes prosperity) while Chioma was the cynosure of all eyes as she stood next to Davido in a stunning golden lace gown adorned with crystals. She completed the look with a gele and traditional neckpiece.
The Traditional Attire
For #Chivido2024 Davido and Chioma’s traditional wedding attire was a stunning display of elegance and cultural significance. Here are the details:
At their traditional wedding, Davido and Chioma graced the occasion in the regal hues of white and gold, with Chioma wearing a white outfit designed by renowned Nigerian designer Tubo, dazzled with golden gems and matching accessories.
Subsequent videos and photos saw the couple wearing elegant gold variations of their traditional attire, with Chioma dazzling in a gold and cream gown adorned with shiny pearls and embellishments, while Davido matched her elegance in a gold satin agbada with a matching fila.
The Adeleke and Rowland family, led by the patriarchs, Adedeji Adeleke, Chief Rowland Avril and Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State made a grand entrance during the ceremony with their coordinated maroon, purple, red, and gold ensembles showcased elegance and unity.
The First Look
For his first look, Davido had worn a wine coloured agbada, with his groomsmen complementing his look with yellow Agbadas. Chioma wore a custom Aso Oke gown in similar colour. She accessorized with a matching hand-fan, a silver bag with purple encrusted beads at the bottom and silver jewellery.
Second Look

For his second outfit, Davido chose to honor his late mother, who hailed from Edo State. He donned a traditional Edo attire, consisting of a long white robe, a blue skirt, and a headgear.
Chioma on the other hand was matchy matchy with her off-the-shoulder white gown that featured beads that imitated a peacock design. She accessorized with a white gele, silver clutch purse and white and brown neck beads.
Third Look
In his third outing, Davido gave a nod to the Igbo culture with his regalia. He wore a magnificent white senator outfit but there’s a twist, a wrapper was wrapped round the outfit. He completed his look with the traditional Igbo red cap.
Chioma on the other hand was the personification of beauty in the custom red and white Igbo attire with a classy spin to it.

The wedding was well attended by A-list celebrities, influencers, actors, and politicians who dressed to the nines, attired in grey, gold, and red outfits, respectively.
