Napoli’s newly appointed head coach, Antonio Conte, has opted to remain neutral on the transfer speculations surrounding Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen. During his inaugural press conference on Wednesday evening, Conte acknowledged Osimhen’s quality but clarified his stance on not intervening in ongoing negotiations related to the player’s future.

Victor Osimhen has been the subject of intense transfer discussions since the conclusion of the last season, attracting interest from several top European clubs. Despite the buzz, Conte emphasized that his involvement would be limited, citing existing agreements between the club and the player.

“Victor Osimhen is undoubtedly a top player,” Conte stated. “However, I am aware of the pre-existing agreements in place regarding his situation. My role is to respect those and observe the developments as they unfold.”

Conte highlighted that while he has significant influence over the squad’s core players like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, and Stanislav Lobotka, Osimhen’s case stands apart due to prior arrangements made by the club.

“As I am deeply familiar with the roles and future plans for Kvaratskhelia, Di Lorenzo, Anguissa, and Lobotka, where I had the authority to exercise an absolute veto, I recognize that Osimhen’s circumstances are different. The club has made certain agreements, and I must honor and respect those,” Conte elaborated.

Conte’s approach reflects a broader strategy of focusing on the squad’s immediate dynamics rather than getting embroiled in individual transfer matters, particularly those predating his appointment.

Osimhen’s future at Napoli remains uncertain amid speculations linking him to elite clubs across Europe. With Conte at the helm, Napoli is preparing for the upcoming season while navigating the complexities of transfer negotiations involving their star striker.

As the Serie A champions look to defend their title, the Osimhen saga continues to be a topic of great interest among fans and pundits alike. Conte’s comments underscore a balanced approach to maintaining squad harmony while respecting ongoing contractual negotiations.
