Announcement and Commencement

The milestone was announced via a video shared by Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, on Thursday, June 27. The video caption read, “It is great to see #Saglev has commenced the production of electric cars at its state-of-the-art assembly plant in Ikorodu, Lagos.”

Vehicle Specifications and Performance

Saglev’s Chief Executive Officer, Sam Faleye, highlighted the impressive capabilities of their electric vehicles.

These cars can cover up to 300 km on a single charge, a distance equivalent to driving from Oshodi to Ajah in Lagos ten times. Faleye emphasized the convenience of the vehicles’ charging requirements, stating that they only need to be charged once or twice a week. A full charge, using a level two charger, takes approximately four hours.

Bottom Line

Saglev’s entry into the Nigerian market marks a significant step towards modernizing the automotive industry in the country. This development not only showcases advancements in technology but also provides a glimmer of hope amidst the economic challenges faced by Nigeria.
