Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin met at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, to discuss ways to enhance economic cooperation between their countries.

The two leaders held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the SCO summit, where they discussed various aspects of economic cooperation, including trade, investment, and energy. President Erdogan extended an official invitation to President Putin to visit Turkey, with the aim of further strengthening economic ties between the two nations.

According to sources, the meeting resulted in a commitment to increase bilateral trade volume to $100 billion, a significant increase from the current level. The two leaders also discussed potential collaborations in the fields of energy, transportation, and construction.

“Our meeting with President Putin has been fruitful, and we have agreed to take our economic cooperation to the next level,” said President Erdogan in a statement. “We believe that our nations have a lot to offer each other, and we look forward to exploring new avenues of cooperation.”

The meeting between Presidents Erdogan and Putin comes as both countries seek to strengthen their economic ties in the region. Turkey has been a key player in the region, and its strategic location has made it an important hub for trade and investment. Russia has also been seeking to enhance its economic presence in the region.

Future Prospect

The enhanced economic cooperation between Turkey and Russia is expected to have far-reaching implications for the region. The increased trade volume and potential collaborations in various sectors are likely to create new opportunities for businesses and investors in both countries.
