Nigeria’s women’s football team, the Super Falcons, has unveiled their formidable 18-player squad for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics, led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade. Under the guidance of head coach Randy Waldrum, the squad includes key players such as goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Osinachi Ohale, and star striker Asisat Oshoala. The roster also features experienced names like Oluwatosin Demehin and Michelle Alozie in defense, alongside midfield talents Deborah Abiodun and Halimatu Ayinde.

The Super Falcons face a challenging group stage, pitted against Brazil, Spain, and Japan. Their quest for a historic first Olympic medal begins on July 25 against Brazil in Bordeaux, followed by clashes with Spain on July 28 and Japan on July 31 in Nantes.

Nigeria’s ambitions are high, aiming to surpass previous Olympic performances where they never advanced beyond the group stage in 2000 and 2008. With a blend of seasoned internationals and promising talents, including Toni Payne and Esther Okoronkwo, the Super Falcons are primed to make a significant impact at the global stage in Paris.

The squad composition reflects a mix of experience from clubs across Europe, the USA, and Asia, highlighting Nigeria’s growing presence in women’s football worldwide. As the countdown to kick-off begins, all eyes are on Nigeria as they seek to rewrite history and clinch Olympic glory in women’s football.
