The Super Eagles of Nigeria have discovered their opponents for the AFCON 2025 Qualifiers, landing in Group B alongside familiar adversaries and new challenges. Gernot Rohr’s Benin Republic, Libya, and Rwanda will join Nigeria in a quest for qualification to the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

The draw ceremony, held at the SuperSport studio in Johannesburg, South Africa, unveiled a competitive path for Nigeria, with significant matchups against Benin Republic and Rwanda looming. The inclusion of Libya adds further complexity to Group B, promising intense battles throughout the qualification series.

While Nigeria and Benin Republic await their FIFA World Cup qualifying rematch slated for October 2025, the focus now shifts to the AFCON qualifiers starting in September. The six-match series will span the FIFA windows across September, October, and November, with each team facing two matches in each seven-day window—a rigorous test of endurance and skill for all participants.

Of particular note is Nigeria’s upcoming clash with Rwanda, also a contender in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying group, scheduled for March 2025. This dual competition sets the stage for strategic planning and preparation as Nigeria aims to secure their place among the 24 nations vying for continental glory in Morocco.

With football fever building across the continent, Group B emerges as a battleground where every match will be pivotal in determining who advances to the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations. As the Super Eagles gear up for these challenges, anticipation mounts for thrilling encounters that will captivate fans and define the path to AFCON 2025.
