Ten private jet operations have been halted by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority for failing to start the recertification process.

This is said in a statement that was issued on Friday in Abuja by Mr. Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection.

According to the organisation, owners of permits for non-commercial flights are prohibited from using their aircraft for the hire or reward of others (commercial operation or charter services) by Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 Part 18.3.4.

The agency stated that its officials had been dispatched to General Aviation Terminals and private airport wings to monitor PNCF holders’ actions.

What they’re saying

“The NCAA had previously ordered all holders of PNCF to undergo re-evaluation, which was supposed to be finished by April 19, 2024, due to blatant contempt for this requirement.

“To that purpose, the NCAA suspended the PNCFs of Azikel Dredging Nigeria Ltd, Bli-Aviation Safety Services, Ferry Aviation Developments Ltd, and Matrix Energy Ltd.

“Additionally, Marrietta Management Services Ltd, Worldwide Skypaths Services, Mattini Airline Services Ltd, Aero Lead Ltd, Sky Bird Air Ltd, and Ezuma Jets Ltd. “The public is thus informed that it is prohibited to engage PNCF holders for commercial purposes. “The NCAA will not hesitate to take enforcement action against any PNCF holder found guilty of illegal operations,” the agency stated.

Bottom Line

The decision by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to suspend the licenses of ten private jet operators shows the regulatory body’s commitment to maintaining strict compliance with aviation regulations.

This move aims to address and deter the misuse of private non-commercial flight permits (PNCF) for commercial operations, which violates the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations.
