This was revealed to reporters in Ado-Ekiti by the state commissioner of information, Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, during the State Executive Council meeting, which Governor Biodun Oyebanji chaired.

According to Olatunbosun, the action was taken as part of the government’s efforts to address the State’s epileptic energy supply issue and link additional regions to the national grid.

He clarified that the installation of transformers in a few chosen cities and villages, as well as the quick extension and restoration of the 33KV network, were allowed by the government.

The commissioner detailed the permissions and stated that N147.5 million had been set aside for the installation of a transformer and the extension of electricity at Ibukun oluwa/Asun Gbowoola, as well as the adjourning settlements on Afao Road, Ado Ekiti.

He stated: “Extension of electricity and transformer installation for N60 million in Faglo Area, Basiri, Ado Ekiti, as well as transformer installation in Isan and Usi Ekiti.”

“The SEC also awarded N162.8 million for for the Extension of 33kv network from Ilawe to Igbara Odo, while N232.8m was approved for the the extension of 33kv network from Aramoko to Ijero-Ekiti”

He said that the State Electricity Board will use direct labour to complete all projects, and that they would be finished in three months. In his speech, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko, Commissioner of Infrastructures and Public Utilities, reaffirmed the government’s pledge to guarantee that every community in the state has access to an electrical supply.

What they’re saying

“Our goal is to ensure that as many places as feasible in Ekiti receive electricity from within the state.

“ For example, the one from Erinjiyan, Aramoko to IgbaraOdo assures that the line from Akure to IgbaraOdo is disconnected, while the line from Ado travels to IgbaraOdo.

“We are aiming to ensure that all towns in Ekiti receive electricity from within the state. That is why we are extending the 33kv line and providing more transformers to the state’s towns’, he explained.

The Ekiti State government’s approval of N806 million for power projects is a strategic and necessary investment aimed at addressing the chronic issue of unreliable electricity supply. By focusing on extending the 33KV network and installing transformers in various towns and villages, the state administration is taking concrete steps to enhance infrastructure and improve the quality of life for its residents.

This initiative can have far-reaching positive impacts, including economic growth, improved public services, and enhanced living standards.
