Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka is a global literary giant and an advocate for social justice and human rights, according to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.

In a statement released on Saturday in honour of Soyinka’s 90th birthday by his chief press secretary, Lekan Adeniran, Abiodun called the first African Nobel Laureate in Literature

The governor stated that via his extraordinary work and advocacy, Soyinka has made significant contributions to the advancement of literature, culture, and democracy in Nigeria and beyond the globe. The renowned dramatist, poet, and writer was praised by Abiodun for his six decades of unrelenting dedication to the struggle for social justice, human rights, and good governance.

He added that generations of Nigerians and Africans to come will be inspired by Soyinka’s legacy as a brave, moral, and intelligent public intellectual. As the renowned scholar marks his historic 90th birthday, Abiodun wished him many more years of good health, wisdom, and fulfilment.
