The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) says it’s not true that they are leaving the big protest planned against not having enough food and high prices in the country. In a message on Wednesday, NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero said that the NLC can’t leave a protest they didn’t start.
The NLC said they stand with the Nigerian people who are having a hard time because of tough economic rules. The message asked the national and local governments to listen to the people and do something about it.
Ajaero asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to talk with the people who started the protest and warned that using strong force would not help.
The NLC’s message says: “We support the Nigerian people during this difficult and painful period. We ask the Federal Government and local governments to pay attention to the concerns of the Nigerian people and take appropriate action.”
This explanation is given while there are reports about a national protest that the NLC did not plan. The organization has always promoted talking and working together to solve the country’s economic problems.
