Wally Amos, the founder of the Famous Amos brand, has died at the age of 88. He went home to be with the Lord without any complications and surrounded with the family. According to his children, dementia was the cause of his death.
Wally Amos established the Famous Amos in the year 1975 when he opened a small cookie business in Los Angeles, California with his aunt’s cookie recipe. The cookies then became favourites and made Amos a house hold name.
Amos was cheerful with people, readily seen around with his identifying Panama hat and kazoo. The company was sold in the late 1980’s but the show was not stopped as he enjoyed baking cookies and running cookie parties in Hawaii.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked for contributions in memory of the deceased to the Alzheimer’s Association. It can be therefore concluded that the efforts made by Wally Amos to the food industry, together with his success story will continue to be remembered for a very long time.
