Abia State Govt. To Implement Tech-Driven Civil Service Reforms

By introducing innovation and technology-driven reforms, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has announced plans to revolutionize the state’s civil service. This initiative aims to equip the workforce with skills required for the 21st century.

In a meeting with a delegation from the British High Commission to Nigeria, led by Dr. Richard Montgomery, Governor Otti emphasized his commitment to preparing the civil service for future challenges. He expressed gratitude for the British High Commission’s support in training over 500 Abia civil servants in digital skills.

Governor Otti highlighted his administration’s efforts in creating a conducive business environment, citing improvements in power supply, road infrastructure and security. He stressed that private sector participation is an important driver of economic growth.

The governor also discussed regional collaboration, mentioning the plans of South-East Governors Forum towards development of regional railway lines towards boosting trade and economic activities.

Dr. Montgomery commended Governor Otti’s achievements within 14 months in resource management, digital compliance as well as infrastructure development. He expressed the British High Commission’s willingness to partner with Abia State on areas such as trade, energy transportation, technology and manufacturing.

It was attended at various levels of governance including secretary to state government, head of service and other key stakeholders

This gesture serves as an indicator of his determination towards changing Abia’s civil service and boosting its economy through innovation & partnerships.
