A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos State has directed that Ganiyu Oyedepo, a prominent leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers popularly called Koko Zaria be remanded. He is standing trial on charges connected with the attack of the veteran Yoruba actor, Lawori.
The allegations against Koko Zaria has been described as an attempted assassination on the life of Lawori based on the actor’s cry on social media following the alleged assault. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, exonerated the force, through his official X handle saying that justice would prevail.
On Thursday, the 5th of August, 2024, the Chief Magistrate B. Sonuga committed Koko Zaria to be remanded for the offences of conspiracy, assault causing harm and conduct likely to disturb public peace. The prosecutor, Morufu Animashaun, a representative of the FCIID’s legal department, said that Oyedepo committed the offences on the 5th of June , 2024, in Idimu, in company with other people.
