Israel: IRGC Prohibit Communication Devices After Strikes on Hezbollah
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has foisted a strict ban on communication devices among its members after a series of coordinated strikes demolished thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon.

The strikes have raised concerns over possible surveillance, according to two senior Iranian security officials.

The Hezbollah attacks, which occurred last week had resulted in 39 deaths and led to over 3,000 injuries, with Hezbollah and Lebanon claiming Israeli involvement, though Israel has yet to confirm nor deny these claims.

After the destruction of Hezbollah’s communication devices, (including homemade and imported equipment from China and Russia), the IRGC launched a large-scale probe, scrutinising devices and checking the bank accounts and travel records of its officials.

In response, the IRGC enforced end-to-end encryption for all internal communications and has sought technical assessments from Hezbollah.

The attacks have led Iranian authorities to reinforce its security measures, particularly when it came to sensitive missile and nuclear sites, even amid fears of Israeli infiltration.
