The Premier League has released the shortlists for its two major awards-the Player and Manager of the Month-for October, after exciting displays by players and managers alike during the past month.
Eight players will vie for the Player of the Month award, and leading among those is Leicester’s Facundo Buonanotte, whose two goals won two important games for his team. Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol earned a nomination, too, after anchoring the backline of the league leaders and scoring that memorable goal against Wolves.
Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo notched three goals to his season’s tally, while Cole Palmer shone for Chelsea, delivering important assists and scoring against Newcastle. Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has chalked two goals and two assists without playing a match, while Nottingham Forest has two nominees in goalie Matz Sels, with 14 saves, and striker Chris Wood, netting four goals. Brighton forward Danny Welbeck made the cut, having scored in three consecutive matches.
On the managerial side, Pep Guardiola’s unbeaten Manchester City shot up to the top of the league. Meanwhile, Nuno Espirito Santo kept his Nottingham Forest strong in the fight for European contention, while Brighton’s Fabian Hurzeler and Liverpool’s Arne Slot also had impressive months, guiding each of their teams to key wins that have bolstered their league standing.
