Peaceful Process with Isolated Incidents

The election process has remained largely peaceful, a positive sign for Ondo’s democratic landscape. However, a suspected vote-buyer was apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS) at Ward 4, Polling Unit 007, outside St. Stephen’s Primary School in Akure. The suspect was found with two bags of cash allegedly meant to induce voters.

Leaders Cast Their Votes

Ondo State Governor cast his vote earlier in the day, expressing optimism for a favorable outcome while praising the peaceful conduct of the election so far. Similarly, Festus Ayo Olorunfemi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, has also voted. His candidacy was confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday following a court ruling that replaced Olusola Ebiseni with Olorunfemi.

The Election Continues

As voting progresses, residents of Ondo State continue to turn out in numbers to elect their preferred candidate. The peaceful nature of the election thus far underscores the commitment of Ondo voters to uphold democratic principles.

Bottom Line

The Ondo governorship election has been characterized by enthusiasm and largely peaceful proceedings, with isolated incidents addressed by authorities. As voting continues, the hope is for a smooth and credible conclusion that reflects the will of the people.
