Joshua Zirkzee scored the winning penalty as 10-man Manchester United eliminated Arsenal in a thrilling FA Cup third-round tie at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Bruno Fernandes put United ahead in the 52nd minute with a curling shot from just inside the box but nine minutes later Arsenal leveled through Gabriel’s header — just moments after Diogo Dalot was sent off for a second yellow card.
The hero for United in normal time was goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who made a superb save from Martin Ødegaard from the penalty spot, while Arsenal squandered several opportunities to seal the win.
The tie went to penalties after the game ended 1-1 after extra time, and Zirkzee kept his nerve to send United through to the fourth round. Manchester United will learn their next opponent in the draw which will be held on Sunday night.
