On Saturday, all 15 occupants of a Toyota bus were slain and burned beyond recognition in a head-on accident with a Mercedes truck on the Port Harcourt-Enugu Expressway.
Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem, the FRSC spokesman, confirmed the accident in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
According to Kazeem, the collision occurred near the Enugu end of the route at about 8.20 p.m.
Kazeem cited the FRSC Corps Marshal, Mr. Dauda Biu, as encouraging motorists to avoid nighttime travel to decrease road fatalities.
He went on to say that Biu observed that the majority of fleet operators and other vehicle owners, including private car owners addicted to nighttime travel, did so for selfish economic gain.
The FRSC chief observed that most night travelers overloaded vehicles with passengers and merchandise.
