Citizens have continued to call for political parties in the nation to zone their presidential tickets to the south as they prepare for the next presidential election in 2023. Many people think this should be done in the spirit of fairness and togetherness.
Atiku Abubakar, on the other hand, is one of the most probable candidates to run in the 2023 election. In the 2019 general election, Atiku was the leading challenger to President Muhammadu Buhari. If Atiku sees that the demand for political parties to zone their presidential tickets to the south is generally supported, he may support another candidate who has a greater chance of winning, but only on one condition.
If Atiku chooses not to run for president in 2023, he would very certainly support Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State. Obi was chosen as Atiku’s running partner in the 2019 general election. In fact, Peter Obi is said to be one of Atiku’s most ardent supporters. Furthermore, Obi served as governor of Anambra State for two terms and excelled in many sectors of government. Atiku is aware that Obi has a greater chance of winning the election.
Atiku would likely impose a condition on Obi that he hand over authority to him after one term in office. This aims to make space for the south to take over as the country’s number one. In reality, Atiku, a savvy politician, would insist on Obi agreeing to this condition before endorsing him in the 2023 general election, if he does not run.
