Mob Action Under Fire in Wake of Wedding Bus Killings
The arrest of 22 suspects over the Mangu wedding bus killings raises broader questions about mob justice and unchecked violence in parts of Nigeria. The victims were simply attending a wedding, a moment that ended in bloodshed due to a tragic misdirection. While police are assuring justice, many are asking how such violence continues to go unchecked.
The police command has called on youths to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to support ongoing efforts to restore peace in Plateau State. But for the families of the victims, peace won’t come easily. As investigations continue and arrests mount, the country watches to see if justice will truly be served.
