The police have reported 4 deaths in a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, 1st June 2022 at the St. Francis hospital campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The gunman has also been confirmed dead from gunshot injuries believed to have come from the shooter himself. The Police captain, Meulenberg has also reported that although several people were also wounded, none of them has life-threatening wounds. According to the Gun Violence Archive, a non-profit organization the recent shooting makes it the 233rd mass shooting in the U.S in 2022 only.
The Gun Violence Archive (GVA) defines a mass shooting as a shooting that kills or injures 4 or more persons, the shooter not included. The hospital where the shooting happened has posted a statement on Facebook announcing that all the appointments slated before noon on Thursday, 2nd June 2022 at the Warren Clinic have been canceled and that certain offices will be closed for the rest of the week. It has also been reported that the gunman used a rifle and a handgun for the shooting.
The shooting happened on the second floor of the Natalie Medical Building on the hospital campus and the four gun victims were shot to death. It is yet to be divulged whether the 4 victims were medical personnel, patients, or family members of the patients.
As of the time of this report, the authorities are yet to disclose the name of the shooter citing an ongoing investigation as the reason. The last U.S shooting occurred in Uvalde, Texas at the primary school, Robb Elementary, where nineteen school children and two adults (teachers) were killed. News media has reported that the crime was committed by an eighteen-year-old with a handgun and an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
