Nigerian pastor, Helen Ukpabio founder of Liberty Gospel Church has demanded a whooping N200 billion in damages from singer Bloody Civilian over allegations of defamation.
The whole controversy erupted after Bloody Civilian accused Ukpabio of inciting parents to burn their children alive. In a comment on X where she celebrated her 60th birthday, the singer clarified her tweet with a YouTube documentary criticizing the methods and ideologies of Ukpabio.
Ukpabio’s camp did not waste any time in responding. Her daughter, Imabong, gave Bloody Civilian an ultimatum, commanding her to take down the post within five hours or face the full weight of the law. When the singer refused to back down, Ukpabio’s lawyers described the accusations as “reckless, satanic, and libellous,” demanding not just an apology but a jaw-dropping N200 billion for the “distress, trauma, and anguish” occasioned by the post.
Reacting to the lawsuit on her X handle, she ridiculed the demand, making jokes about her taking on stand-up comedy and wedding performances to afford the damages.
