Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced that Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, will face legal action over a tragic children’s funfair she organised in Ibadan.
The event, which was held at the Islamic High School, Bashorun, had turned fatal as some children had lost their lives due to a badly organized event with poor safety measures. The Governor, while speaking at the Annual Inter-faith Service on Monday, January 6, 2025, said justice would be served.
“This is Oyo State. We will not allow such negligence to go unpunished,” he said, responding to concerns that similar incidents in other states, like Anambra and the FCT, had no prosecutions.
The investigation is ongoing, and residents are watching closely as the government moves to hold the organisers accountable.
