Trevor Noah, a popular South African comedian and producer, has been announced as the host of this year’s Grammy Awards.
In a recent post on social media, the Recording Academy confirmed Noah as this year’s host.
This marks the fifth consecutive year Noah has hosted the music awards show, since 2021.
The 67th annual awards ceremony will take place on February 2 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Despite the wildfires in the region, the award event will go ahead as planned, according to the organisers.
Aside from honouring the best in music, the ceremony will also serve as a fundraiser for relief efforts supporting wildfire victims.
The organizers wrote on X, “Returning as host, the Grammy nominee @TrevorNoah is set to take us into music’s biggest night to honor music and amplify support for the music community impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires.”
Nigerian artists have been better represented in the most prestigious music awards after Burna Boy won the Grammys in 2021.
This year’s nominees for ‘Best African Music Performance’ are Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Davido, Lojay, Burna Boy, and Tems.
