South West Governors Concludes Meeting, Releases Key Resolutions

After a closed-door meeting at the Lagos House, Ikeja, on Thursday. the South-West Governors’ Forum has released key resolutions made during the meeting. The chairman of the forum, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu published the resolutions in a communique signed by the governors.

The governors resolved to create a special security outfit aimed at tackling banditry and other criminal activities across the region, they also agreed to
set up joint food hubs to address rising food inflation and ensure regional food security.

The meeting, which lasted four hours, was attended by Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and the host, Sanwo-Olu.

Commendation and Regional Development

The Forum commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts towards stabilizing the economy, the exchange rate, and petrol prices. The meeting also addressed the ongoing efforts to establish the South-West Development Commission, highlighting its importance for regional progress. This builds upon the June 10th, 2024 meeting where Governor Sanwo-Olu assumed his chairmanship. The forum continues to focus on implementing policies that bolster regional development across the South-West.
