The House of Representatives has dismissed bribery allegations made by Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan. The crypto platform official claimed that some lawmakers demanded a $150 million bribe during negotiations with the Federal Government. However, the Nigerian government and the House have refuted the claim, stating that it targets certain individuals, not the institution as a whole.

Binance Bribery Allegation Lacks Credibility

The House of Representatives has questioned the credibility of the bribery claims, calling them baseless. According to House spokesman Akin Rotimi Jr., “These allegations, which have been previously circulated last year, are directed at individual members, not the institution itself.” This statement suggests that the accusations are a recycled attempt to discredit Nigerian lawmakers.

Lawmakers named in the allegations have denied involvement, with one already taking legal action to clear his name. Others are expected to follow suit to protect their reputations. If Binance truly has evidence, why hasn’t it provided any? The absence of proof raises doubts about the intent behind these accusations. But of course, this is Nigeria—anything is possible.

Binance Under Fire for Timing of Bribery Claims

The House has also questioned Binance’s motives, especially the timing of these allegations. If Binance was truly pressured for a bribe, why did it wait this long before making the accusations public? The Nigerian government has refused to bow to corporate pressure and even rejected Binance’s financial settlement offers. This suggests that Nigeria prioritizes national interest over external influence.

Binance is already under scrutiny for its operations in Nigeria, and these allegations appear to be a distraction. The House has urged the public to rely on verified facts rather than fall for sensational claims aimed at discrediting Nigerian institutions.

Nigeria Demands Accountability Amid Binance Bribery Scandal

The House of Representatives has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability. It will not be distracted by unverified claims and expects Binance to present evidence in court instead of resorting to media propaganda.

Since the bribery allegations have taken a legal and diplomatic dimension, the House has stated that it will refrain from further comments. However, it remains committed to ensuring that Nigerian lawmakers are not falsely accused by foreign entities looking to escape scrutiny.

Nigeria has made it clear: it will not tolerate attempts to undermine its institutions with baseless allegations. Binance must be held accountable for its actions instead of shifting blame. If there was indeed a $150 million bribe request, where is the evidence? Until proof is provided, these allegations remain nothing more than a desperate attempt to manipulate public perception.
