Over 10 people were injured in a “stampede-like situation” at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday, according to reports by ANI news agency, citing police sources.
While Indian Railways dismissed the stampede as a “rumor,” they however, confirmed an undisclosed number of injuries and hospitalizations.
Railways Deny Stampede, Confirm Injuries
While Indian Railways clarified that the incident was not a stampede , they acknowledged injuries occurred. Railway Police and Delhi Police swiftly responded, bringing the situation under control and transporting the injured to nearby hospitals.

The incident comes weeks after a pre-dawn stampede at the Kumbh Mela in northern India, where dozens died as millions gathered to bathe in sacred river waters. Now, as at the time of filing this report, the authorities are investigating the cause of the chaos, with initial reports suggesting overcrowding as a factor. Indian Railways on the other hand has emphasized that the situation is now stable and is urging the public to avoid spreading unverified statements as rumors.
