At the Kara Cattle Market in Isheri Olofin, which is located along the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway, a brawl broke out on Monday, and 80-year-old trader Ladan Bature was fatally stabbed during the altercation.

PUNCH Metro was informed by the Ogun State Police Command that a woman, Haiye Aginni, who is accused of carrying out the attack, has been arrested.

A day prior, on Obalende Street in the state’s Isara neighbourhood, a teenager named Olamide Phillips was accused of stabbing his friend Moses Odeh to death after a fight.

In an interview with PUNCH on Wednesday, the spokesperson for the command, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that the suspect reportedly stabbed the 80-year-old man with a knife in front of the Kara Market mosque.

Odutola claimed that even though the locals and traders tried to transport Bature to the hospital, a doctor pronounced him dead.

She disclosed, “Following the report to the Ojodu Abiodun Police Division, detectives swiftly took action and arrested the suspect.

“Bature’s body has been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue in Sagamu for preservation and autopsy.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.”
