The Ghana Black Stars are considering recalling one of its exiled players as the clock ticks down to the vital World Cup play-off against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

The Ghanaians have been unable to name a provisional team due to a number of issues, including the mandatory suspension of their captain, Andre Ayew, and Benjamin Tetteh, as well as injuries to other key players.

Because of these considerations, the Ghana Football Association is considering returning Sulley Muntari, who played in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He was, however, expelled from the national team for his part in pressuring the Ghanaian government to pay the players before the World Cup’s last group match.

The Ghanaians are considering the 37-year- old who’s returned to the domestic league with the Hearts of Oak team in the Ghana Premier League and, according to Ghanaweb, the Ghana Football Association will seek certification from the Justice Dzamefe Commission, which probed the players’ activities during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

According to the source, the former AC Milan and Inter midfielder has been barred from representing his country until he apologizes for his role in the 2014 World Cup disaster.

Interim coach Otto Addo has yet to choose his squad for the games against Nigeria later this month, but insiders close to the situation say he has been keeping an eye on his former Ghana teammate.
