The race for Bauchi State’s top seat in 2027 just got more exciting as Senator Ahmed Abdul Ningi, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the lawmaker representing Bauchi Central, officially threw his hat into the ring. Ningi made his much-anticipated declaration on Friday during a strategic meeting with PDP stakeholders in Ganjuwa Local Government Area, setting the stage for what promises to be a fierce political battle.

Not Just Another Politician—A Party Loyalist

Ningi is no newcomer to the game. As the Deputy Majority Leader of the Nigerian Senate, he has spent years navigating the complex world of politics, but one thing has remained constant, his loyalty to the PDP. “I am a founding member of this party from its inception. I have never left, and I will not leave,” he affirmed. Unlike political figures who switch allegiances, Ningi has remained steadfast, making it clear that his ambition is not just about personal gain but about strengthening the party’s hold on power in Bauchi State and beyond.

Why Is Ningi Running?

Addressing party members, Ningi dismissed any notions that he is in it for the prestige. “I am not joining the gubernatorial race for fame or popularity, I have already made a name for myself. I have risen to the position of Deputy Senate Leader; what more do I need in terms of recognition?” he stated confidently. According to him, this is about service, about taking responsibility for Bauchi’s future, and about delivering real progress to the people.

Rallying PDP for Victory

Beyond his personal ambition, Ningi is focused on one major goal, keeping Bauchi State under PDP control while also positioning the party for a national comeback in 2027. He urged party stakeholders to start laying the groundwork now, emphasizing the importance of choosing a candidate with the political experience and vision to secure victory. “We must be strategic and united,” he stressed, calling on PDP loyalists to work together to ensure the party’s continued dominance in the state.

What This Means for Bauchi State

With Ningi’s entry into the governorship race, the political landscape in Bauchi is bound to heat up. His experience, credibility, and deep party connections make him a formidable contender.

However, the journey to 2027 is long, and the coming months will be critical in shaping the future of the PDP in Bauchi. Will Ningi emerge as the party’s flagbearer? And if he does, can he lead PDP to victory? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain; Bauchi’s political stage is set for a thrilling showdown.
