Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has revealed the reasons behind his deep respect for women, acknowledging their significant role in shaping his career.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, the talented actor expressed gratitude for the unwavering support he has received from women in the industry, crediting them for many of his opportunities.

“I don’t think I would be where I am today without women,” he admitted. “That’s why I have immense respect for them. The women in my life have been incredibly supportive. Onyinye Udeze took a big chance on me at a crucial point in my career, and it turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me. She opened so many doors. Uduak Isong also took a chance on me.”

He went on to mention other women who have played a key role in his journey, including Dabby, Blessing Egbe, and an industry colleague fondly called Lepa.

“A lot of women have supported me throughout my career. They are the ones who provided platforms for me. I can’t deny that women have been instrumental in getting me to where I am today,” he added.

When asked about his versatility as an actor, Arukwe attributed it to constantly refining his craft.

“I exercise my acting muscles a lot by watching movies. I enjoy working alongside great Nigerian actors—even the not-so-great ones. I’m not saying there are bad actors, but sometimes, when I see poor performances, I learn what to avoid and how to improve.”

He explained that honing his skills involves continuous practice and self-awareness.

“I focus on expanding my range, understanding my depth, and refining my timing. Acting requires a lot of brainwork, so I keep challenging myself to become more comfortable with the art and craft of acting,” he said.
