Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has addressed Apostle Femi Lazarus’ recent remarks about gospel musicians charging fees for their services.

Dakolo responded to Lazarus’ comments with a lengthy social media post, challenging the apostle’s concept of a gospel artist and performance.

Dakolo contended that Lazarus’ position suggests that anyone who charges for their services cannot be considered a genuine gospel minister.

Additionally, the artist brought up the fact that Lazarus charges for his own ministry school, where he preaches and educates about Jesus.

Lazarus probably makes a substantial sum of money from his school, according to Dakolo’s calculations. He questioned whether this isn’t simply a kind of “selling the Gift and revelation freely given” to him.

Timi Dakolo responded to Femi Lazarus’ assertion that gospel singers charge for their services.

He wrote: “All this was said in love and with respect sir. I am not a gospel artist but a Christian raised in church.

“Let’s not shift the goal post. By your definition, if anyone charges to minister, they are not Gospel artist, they performers.

“And by that definition, if any preacher charges to teach and minister, they are merchants of hope and motivational speakers and performers too.

“Sir, you are charging as low as 150 dollars per person for your school of ministry. Teaching and preaching Jesus. Probably having as much as 1000 students . Let’s do the maths. You even have premium and standard for God house?

“Are you not selling the Gift and revelation freely given to you? Again let’s not keep shifting the goal post.

“Such hypocrisy, The school of ministry has expenses and Music creation doesn’t. Running cost important, production / promotion cost unimportant. Una well done.

“Most of you don’t know how much a producer charges, then the marketing, the promotion. The amount of hours it takes to finish a song. Keep shifting the goal post guys”.
