The protest in Rivers State started along a major road and moved toward the Rivers State Government House, The women leading the protest held up placards with powerful messages such as “Bring back Fubara,” “Save our democracy,” “Is the law different for Rivers State?” and “God of justice, arise for Rivers State.” These women, calling themselves mothers and wives, are demanding that President Bola Tinubu lift the suspension on Governor Fubara and restore democratic institutions in the state.

The protesters criticized what they described as “unconstitutional military rule masked as a state of emergency.” They insisted that the people of Rivers deserve better than what they called an undemocratic setup. The protest is not only about the return of Governor Fubara but about ensuring the future of democracy in Rivers State.

In a statement to Channels Television, protest leaders and participants expressed their frustration with the ongoing political situation in Rivers State. Despite the crisis, they pointed out that Governor Fubara has continued to work hard and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people. One protester said, “We are a peaceful people and do not deserve this kind of injustice. The governor has been doing his job despite the distractions. What is happening now is not democracy.”

Before the march, the women gathered for prayers at Isaac Boro Park, which symbolized their commitment to peace and justice. Afterward, they proceeded with the march along Aba Road, carrying their message of democracy and justice.
