Mohamed Salah has as good as ended speculation that he might leave Liverpool for Saudi Arabia after signing a new two-year contract. The 32-year-old forward was due to be a free agent next summer but is now committed to Anfield until the summer of 2027.
Salah has had the most successful spell of his career with the Reds since joining from Roma in 2017. In 393 appearances in all conditions, he has netted 243 times, setting up a further 109 goals to firmly entrench him among the club’s all-time greats. He has scored 32 and assisted 21 in 45 appearances this season in what has been a particularly prolific season for the Egyptian.
Since joining the team, Salah has lifted every available major trophy besides the Community Shield: he has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, two EFL Cups, and Club World Cup.
“This is fantastic, I’m really excited — we have a good team now,” Salah said. “I signed because I think we can win more trophies and I’m enjoying my football.
His renewal comes amid uncertainty over contracts for other stars Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, whose deals also end this summer. Both players reportedly remain in talks.
