Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar paid a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna after the Sallah holidays. Atiku led a delegation of top politicians from the People’s Democratic Party. This included Nasir El-Rufai, Aminu Tambuwal, Achike Udenwa, Gabriel Suswam, Jibrilla Bindow, Abubakar Malami, and Isa Pantami.

He later shared on his official X handle that the visit was part of his post-Sallah tradition. “Today, I had the opportunity to pay a post-Sallah visit to His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari,” Atiku wrote. He added that Buhari made him laugh so hard that his ribs hurt.

Ganduje Leads APC Leaders to Buhari’s House

Just a few hours after Atiku’s visit, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, led the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to visit Buhari at his home in Kaduna.

Although details of the visit were not made public, it followed speculations about growing disunity within the APC. Some members of the party recently joined the Social Democratic Party, raising concerns about cracks in the ruling party.

El-Rufai Says Visit Was Not Political

After the meeting, El-Rufai told reporters that the visit was not political. He said people should not worry or lose sleep over it. According to him, “the visit was for unity and brotherhood.”

The back-to-back visits by both APC and PDP leaders to Buhari have raised political eyebrows. However, none of the parties has clearly stated the purpose of the visits. While Atiku called it a post-Sallah visit, Ganduje’s trip is seen by many as a move to strengthen ties within the party.
