The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is on the hunt for a new coach for the Super Eagles after the Federation sacked the Eagle’s entire technical crew for the teams failure to qualify for the World Cup.

According to reports coming from Own Gial Nigeria, the NFF and the Federal Ministry of Sports have now made contact with former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh to take charge of the team he left back in 2016.

When Oliseh was as the helm of affairs as the Super Eagles coach, he had it rough with top officials at the NFF which led to his resignation. Oliseh played for the Nigeria national team between 1993 and 2002 and he was part of the 1994 Olympics gold medal winning team before resuming as the Eagles coach in 2015.

When asked about the ongoing talks with the NFF, he had this to say:

“I will always be available to help my country in any position way because my will always be my country and that can’t be taken away. I will consider taking the job if it comes eventually.

“The only reason i resigned back in 2016 was because the authorities at the NFF didn’t reach out to me when I was sick, so i felt weird working with people that doesn’t care but now i see changes have been made and we’ll see what happens.”

The 47 year old time as the Super Eagles gaffer was cut short after just seven months in charge and it was presumed to have been a breach of contract between the two parties.

The Belgium-based former player has been out of job since 2018 after leaving his management role at Dutch-based club Fortuna Sittard. He has struggled to secure another coaching position since then, and now his next destination seem like the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
