Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has confirmed that she was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning related to the money spraying incident at her daughter’s wedding.

In a detailed Instagram post, Iyabo Ojo explained that she had received numerous inquiries from friends, family, and the public regarding her invitation by the EFCC. She clarified that she visited the EFCC office on May 5, 2025, where she was asked about her personal details, career background, work experience, and the companies she is associated with.

The actress revealed that EFCC officials showed her footage from her daughter’s wedding, where guests were seen spraying both Naira and foreign currencies. She was then questioned about whether she was aware that such actions were illegal.

“I explained that I thought only the abuse or mutilation of the Naira was an offence,” she wrote. “The EFCC officials clarified that spraying money, including on people’s bodies, is prohibited. I was surprised to learn that spraying any currency, including dollars, is also not allowed.”

Following the questioning, Iyabo Ojo was allowed to leave, but her personal lawyer, O.I. Salami, remained as a representative in case further action is required.

The actress concluded her post by advising Nigerians against spraying currency to avoid future complications with the EFCC: “I strongly advise against spraying any currency in Nigeria to avoid issues with the EFCC. Perhaps it’s time to reconsider this long-standing tradition. Let’s prioritise caution and avoid any potential problems.”

She thanked everyone who reached out to her during the situation and shared her message of caution.
