Iga Swiatek has had a great start to her Italian Open adventure on Thursday as she completely outplayed home favorite Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6-1, 6-0 within just 52 minutes allowing her to qualify for the next round of the tournament.

At world number two in the rankings, she decided to have a strong reaction to her semifinal loss to Coco Gauff of the United States in Madrid. She was very much to the point, losing only one game in that match and playing very dominantly against the Italian.

“I feel the ball was cooperating with my mood today. It is much easier and always comfortable to play at such a high level” said Swiatek

The 23-year-old Pole, Swiatek, has won the Italian Open three times and now will play against America’s in-form player, Danielle Collins, in order to make the fourth round. Swiatek is attending this tournament in Rome to be well-prepared for the upcoming French Open, which she is the defending champion of.

In other news, the sixth Italian seed, Jasmine Paolini, has been in first place with the home audience by defeating Lulu Sun from New Zealand with a 6-4, 6-3 win, and now will compete with the next round opponent, Ons Jabeur.

In the men’s draw, the top-seed, Jannik Sinner, has his first competition against Mariano Navone of Argentina, who in the last match defeated Federico Cina 6-3, 6-3.
