The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the 2025 UTME results. Over 1.9 million candidates participated in the exam across Nigeria. The Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, made the announcement in Abuja during a press briefing. He confirmed that 1,957,000 candidates were successfully verified while 71,705 were absent.

He explained that “a total of 2,030,862 candidates registered for the 2025 UTME, which was conducted in 882 CBT centres under close monitoring.” He said over 10,000 officials supervised the examination. “Without equivocation, this year’s exercise will be remembered as the most successful in recent times,” the registrar added.

JAMB Withholds 39,834 UTME Results for Exam Malpractice

Professor Oloyede revealed that 39,834 UTME results have been withheld due to examination malpractices. He stated that 80 individuals are under investigation, with Anambra State having the highest number of suspects, 14 in total.

In addition, 50 candidates were linked to cheating, while 467 underage candidates who sat for the exam scored above the minimum cut-off mark. According to him, “Each of these cases would be reviewed and determined on its merit.”

He also disclosed that 2,157 candidates were rejected by the biometric machines due to fingerprint issues. Most of these cases involved registration infractions. These irregularities, he said, will be investigated individually.

Over 41,000 Underage Candidates Registered for 2025 UTME

Out of 41,027 underage candidates who registered for the UTME, 40,260 took the exam. Their results are now undergoing further scrutiny. The aim, according to JAMB, is to identify the few exceptional candidates among them.

Oloyede maintained that the board is committed to transparency and fairness, stressing that no candidate will be punished without proof. The 2025 UTME results can now be accessed by candidates through official JAMB platforms.
