Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has stirred fresh defection rumours after she posted a video showing herself enjoying a song in praise of President Bola Tinubu. The suspended senator representing Kogi Central released the 15-second TikTok clip on Saturday, and it has since gone viral.

In the video, Akpoti-Uduaghan is seen smiling and nodding to a track by famous Kano musician, Dauda Kahutu, also known as Rarara. The song, “Asiwaju Omo Ologo,” which means “Asiwaju the glorious child” in Yoruba, was recently performed for the President during a dinner in Katsina.

Her supporters are now questioning her loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with many speculating about a possible move to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Supporters Confused as Akpoti-Uduaghan Shares Pro-Tinubu Clip

Since the video surfaced, several social media users and political observers have wondered if Akpoti-Uduaghan is planning to join APC. Her action has left many shocked, especially given her long-standing opposition to the Tinubu-led administration.

The PUNCH could not confirm whether her TikTok post is a signal of her political future or simply satire aimed at mocking the ruling party.

When reached for clarification, her media aide, Israel Arogbonlo, could not be reached on the phone. As of the time of filing this report, there was still no response from Akpoti-Uduaghan or her media team.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s History With the Senate and Akpabio

This new drama comes months after Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended by the Senate. On March 6, she was removed from duty following a disagreement over a new seating arrangement in the chamber. She claimed the change was targeted at her.

Tensions escalated when she publicly accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of punishing her because she rejected his alleged sexual advances.

Speaking during the Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting at the United Nations in New York, the Kogi Central senator called for international support to hold the Nigerian Senate accountable for its actions against female lawmakers.

She told the global audience that her security was withdrawn, her salary was cut, and she was suspended for six months. The Senate later secured a court order that barred both her and Akpabio from addressing the press about the matter until the court case is resolved.

But just last Sunday, two days after Akpabio visited the Vatican, the senator shared a satirical apology letter addressed to his office — a move that again caught the attention of the public.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has once again sparked a major conversation with her recent TikTok video. By vibing to a song that praises President Tinubu, she has fueled speculations about a possible defection from PDP to APC. Whether it was a genuine show of admiration or another satirical jab at the APC, Akpoti-Uduaghan knows how to keep Nigerians talking.
