Adeola, the daughter of veteran Nollywood actress Jumoke George, has shared the harrowing story of her traumatic experience in Mali during a heartfelt interview with actress Biola Bayo.

In the emotional conversation, Adeola revealed that she was trafficked and sold to a woman who intended to force her into prostitution. According to her, the woman claimed to have bought her and demanded she repay N1.5 million, having allegedly paid N250,000 to the trafficker who brought her to Mali.

Despite enduring immense hardship, Adeola said she was unable to gather enough money to regain her freedom or return to Nigeria. She confessed that she suffered deeply, to the point of contemplating death, even drinking a toxic substance in front of those around her as she struggled to survive.

“I was suffering in Mali but I kept enduring,” she said. “I told the lady we lived with that if I die, she shouldn’t post it. The people were wicked to me.”

Adeola admitted that, although she stayed in contact with people in Nigeria, she deliberately avoided calling her mother and children due to shame and fear of judgment. However, she was deeply touched by a viral video of her mother weeping for her, which prompted her to speak out and seek forgiveness.

“When I saw the video of my mum crying, I felt so sad. I couldn’t sleep after watching it. People kept calling me. I can’t let anything happen to her,” she said emotionally.

Reflecting on her painful journey, Adeola said she learned hard lessons in Mali, where she had lost all hope of survival and resigned herself to dying there.

“Mali isn’t better than Nigeria,” she said. “Let me not lie; I learnt a lot of lessons in Mali. I had made up my mind that Mali would be my end.”

In a tearful plea, she asked for understanding and forgiveness from Nigerian mothers, insisting she is not a bad person and vowing to protect her mother going forward.

“All the mothers in Nigeria, don’t be angry with me. I am not a bad child. Please forgive me.”
