From pole position, Lando Norris served up another flawless performance in Monaco on Sunday, taking the increasingly narrow championship lead held by his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri down to just three points.
In a race defined by strategy and patience, Norris held off Charles Leclerc and Ferrari for his second win of the season—McLaren’s first at Monaco since 2008. “This is what I dreamed of when I was a kid,” said an ecstatic Norris, who lapped everyone but four cars on the grid.
Piastri took the last podium spot after Verstappen came in fourth—top four in the same order by which they had started. Hamilton certainly had a strong fifth for Ferrari, followed by Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar, while Esteban Ocon filled the seventh spot for Haas. Lawson grabbed his first points for the year in eighth for Racing Bulls, with Albon and Sainz rounding out the top ten for Williams.
It was not an afternoon to remember for Mercedes, with George Russell finishing 11th and rookie Kimi Antonelli in 18th. There was an early virtual safety car after Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto crashed into the tyre wall, while Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso were forced to retire after separate incidents.
