Colombian superstar Shakira has canceled her Saturday Washington DC concert at Nationals Park after dangerous stage flaws forced last-minute cancellation of her Boston Fenway Park show.

The “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour stop for WorldPride—one of the globe’s largest LGBTQ+ festivals—was scrapped when inspection teams found the full production couldn’t be safely transported in time following the Boston incident.

Entertainment giant Live Nation confirmed “structural elements were identified as not being up to standard” during routine Boston checks, prompting cancellations of Shakira’s May 29 show and subsequent country performances by Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn.

Nationals Park officials stated “despite every effort,” the complex staging couldn’t be reconfigured for DC’s Saturday event, triggering automatic refunds for disappointed ticket holders.

Meanwhile, the 48-year-old Grammy winner expressed devastation in a statement: “I’ve been counting the days to reunite with Boston and DC fans.” She promised to “do everything in my power” to reschedule, addressing heartbroken followers who traveled cross-country.

Social media reactions ranged from frustration (“Flew from LA for this”) to support (“She doesn’t deserve this situation”) as the tour prepares to continue in Atlanta June 2.

At the time of filing this report, neither Shakira nor Live Nation specified exact structural issues, the incidents mirror recent concert industry challenges in post-pandemic staffing shortages and rushed venue turnarounds.
