Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has opened up about her early encounter with fellow actress Iyabo Ojo and how their journey together in the industry began.
Speaking during a recent podcast, Akintola shared that she first met Iyabo when she was just 19 years old, driven by a strong passion to become an actress.
“She came to my house. She was very young and I asked, ‘What do you want?’ She said she wanted to act,” Akintola recalled.
Deeply moved by her determination, Akintola went out of her way to help the young aspiring actress secure a major lead role—a rare chance for someone so new to the industry.
However, she admitted to feeling disappointed when she later found out that Iyabo was pregnant at the time.
“Iyabo offended me when I got her a lead role. I don’t beg for roles, but I did for her. She was pregnant,” she revealed.
Despite the setback, Bimbo praised Iyabo’s resilience and how she eventually overcame obstacles to become one of Nollywood’s top stars.
“What I like is that she went the extra mile to fulfill her acting dream,” she said.
