Mixed Reactions Trail Iyabo Ojo’s Visit to Seyi Tinubu Amid Political Allegiances

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has strongly defended her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, following a public statement by Tanzanian media personality Mage Kimambi, who urged Priscilla and her husband, singer Juma Jux, to stay off social media for several months amid political tensions in Tanzania.

Mage Kimambi had taken to Instagram to warn the couple against sharing content online for the next five months, claiming that their posts could aggravate the political unrest in the country. The media personality appeared concerned that their public displays and celebrations might be seen as insensitive during a delicate period.

Reacting to the comments, Iyabo Ojo expressed deep displeasure via her own Instagram page, accusing Kimambi of overstepping boundaries and speaking in a condescending manner toward her daughter and son-in-law. She criticized Kimambi for attempting to instill fear and called the tone of her message unacceptable.

Iyabo Ojo Blasts Tanzanian Commentator For Calling Priscilla, Juma Jux’s Love Posts ‘Stupid’

“I’m appalled by your audacity!” Iyabo began, referring to what she viewed as unwarranted criticism of her daughter and Juma Jux. She took offense at Kimambi allegedly calling their social media content “stupīd” and trying to intimidate them. Iyabo emphasized that as a mother, she had raised Priscilla to be confident and authentic — qualities she is proud of and will continue to defend.

The actress also addressed the growing speculation around the couple’s lavish wedding celebrations, which some assumed were funded through political or questionable sources. Iyabo set the record straight, explaining that everything was handled within the family. “Regarding the wedding rumours, it’s not your government that gave us money; it’s a cultural tradition in my family,” she wrote. This statement was a direct rebuttal to any claims suggesting the wedding was financed by external or political figures.

Iyabo, who often speaks out on social issues, also reminded Kimambi that activism and leadership require dignity and respect. “I’m an activist, and as one, I stand by my principles and fight for what I believe in, without insulting anyone or targeting anyone. True leadership requires presence and courage,” she noted, implying that Kimambi’s style of commentary lacks the maturity and grace expected of someone in a position of influence.

Concluding her post, the actress firmly told Kimambi to steer clear of her daughter’s life and choices. “Keep my daughter out of your affairs. She’ll post what she likes, when, and how she likes,” she wrote, asserting Priscilla’s independence and freedom of expression. Iyabo added that Priscilla is deeply loved and protected by her family and does not need validation from outsiders. “She doesn’t need you to love her. She is very loved and well-loved. We protect our own. Never forget that,” she warned.

The post has stirred conversation online, with many applauding Iyabo for taking a bold stand in defense of her daughter and slamming attempts to silence or shame young people for living their lives confidently.
