On Wednesday, the club announced they had sealed a five-year contract with Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan. According to sources, the transaction is worth £46.3 million and it is the fourth of the week for City.

Reijnders, 26, becomes part of the Guardiola’s team after reaching the top in Italy in the 2024/25 season, when he netted 15 goals for Milan. The addition of Reijnders compensates departure of club legend Kevin De Bruyne, who was in charge of City’s midfield.

“I am over the moon to have joined Manchester City,” Reijnders stated. “City is the best club in the world, with the best coach, amazing players, and great facilities.”

City’s new player comes after the signings of Rayan Cherki from Lyon, Chelsea goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli, and Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri. The club’s squad revamp started in January with the arrivals of Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov, and Vitor Reis.

Reijnders’ experience and creativity were hailed by Director of football Hugo Viana, who furthered: “He gives more energy and confidence to our midfield.”

After finishing third in the Premier League last season, City look to come back strong. Their first match in the Club World Cup will be against Wydad Casablanca in Philadelphia on June 18.
