In a chaotic race swirled by changing weather with rain, Lando Norris triumphed to land his first ever British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday. This allowed him to have 1-2 McLaren lead ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri. Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg came in third, which gave him a podium finish for the first time in 239 races without any podiums.

The unpredictable race with seedily changing weather conditions witnessed Piastri eager to perform in the leading position before he was handed a 10-second penalty for going too slow behind the safety car. The victory that allows Norris to take charge and lead by 6.8 seconds pacemaker has been seized by him.

“This is so nice. At home—this is love or a dream,” uttered Norris while thanking for his fourth win of the current season and his overall eighth, his nearest rival Piastri being just eight points ahead in the championship.

Hulkenberg’s tearful podium finish was the end to a frenzy of Safety car, spins, and crashes that the course witnessed earlier. Max Verstappen, who found the pole at start, led initially but after he lost grip in the slippery conditions, he slowed to fifth behind Lewis Hamilton.

Gasly, Stroll, Albon, Alonso, and Russell filled out the rest of the top 10 positions.

Celebrated as a 75 th anniversary of F1 and the 1,173rd Grand Prix since 1950, the action-packed race lived up to expectations being filled with high excitement and nostalgic moments with a homegrown hero standing tall in front of an ecstatic British crowd.
