Officials of the Lagos State Command have nabbed several suspects allegedly to be the perpetrators behind the murder of David Imoh, a 38-year-old sound engineer in Lekki. According to reports, the victim was seized and set ablaze by members of a mob consisting of okada riders for reasons yet to be fully uncovered. There are conflicting tales about the incident, with one party stating that the conflict had arisen over a fee of N100 while another insisted that the sound engineer and two of his friends were accused of being kidnappers and subsequently lynched.

What is sure is the fact that Imoh took a motorcycle from a club to an unnamed location at Admiralty Way. Along the way, an argument broke out between the two men, a situation that rapidly devolved into a physical altercation that attracted the attention of the other okada riders and dragged them into the fracas.

The mob quickly descended on Imoh and the two friends that came to help with sticks and other blunt objects of that nature, and then promptly set his body on fire once the victim ceased struggling. Eyewitnesses related that although the police were called and quickly arrived, not even them firing several warning shots in the air could cause the mob to disengage from their prey. The two friends and colleagues were successfully rescued but by that time, Imoh was already deceased.

Already the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi has ordered the swift arrest of the hoodlums with Lagos State Police Spokesman SP Benjamin later confirming that all members of the mob had been arrested and detained. Describing the incident as nothing short of a heinous crime, he assured Lagosians that the perpetrators would be prosecuted as jungle justice was not allowed anywhere in the country.
